No-Wake Zones and Idle Speed

The LWMC has filed the new idle speed regulation enacted in November with the North Carolina and South Carolina state. Agencies have posted the new regulation at locations around the lake as required by law. The regulation, which has two sections, makes the idle speed rules for wake surfing and the idle speed rules for boats around private docks the same in both states on Lake Wylie:

No person may operate boats on Lake Wylie in excess of idle speed within 50 feet of a moored or an anchored vessel, a person in the water, any private wharf, any private dock, any private bulkhead, or any private pier.

No one shall Wake Surf on Lake Wylie in excess of idle speed within 200 feet of a moored or an anchored vessel, a person in the water, any wharf, any dock, any bulkhead, or any pier.
