Protect Your Home from Freezing Pipes This Winter!

As freezing temperatures approach, it’s crucial to take simple precautions to prevent pipes from freezing and causing costly damage. Follow these tips to keep your home safe and warm:

  • 1) Open Cabinet Doors: Open the doors under your kitchen and bathroom sinks to allow warm air to circulate around the plumbing.
  • 2) Keep a Steady Water Flow: Let a small stream of water drip from your faucets, especially those connected to exposed pipes. Running water is less likely to freeze.
  • 3) Maintain a Consistent Indoor Temperature: Keep your thermostat set to the same temperature day and night, even if you are away.
  • 4) Know Your Main Water Valve Location: In case of a burst pipe, shutting off the main water supply can minimize damage.

These small steps can save you from major headaches and repairs during the cold season!

Safeguard Sprinkler Systems

To protect sprinkler systems during the cold months, we will distribute 60W incandescent light bulbs for use in your outside storage area. These bulbs provide warmth to prevent freezing.

Important Instructions:

  1. Replace Your LED Bulb: Replace the current LED bulb in your storage area with the provided incandescent bulb.
  2. Leave the Bulb Uncovered: Do not cover the bulb with a globe or any other covering; it needs to remain open to warm the area effectively.
  3. Turn Off the Bulb When Temperatures Are Above Freezing: Use the bulb only when temperatures are at risk of freezing to conserve energy.

Bulb Distribution Points:

  • Building 9709: Collect your bulb from Unit 4.
  • Building 9817: Collect your bulb from Unit 6.

Community Ice Melt and Safety Measures

To ensure safe access during icy conditions, the Association will spread ice melt on walkways/bridges leading to buildings. Additionally:

  • As we prepare for next week’s storm, we want to remind you that ice melt is available for distribution. Buckets with ice melt have been placed below the stairwells for your convenience. We kindly ask that you take what you need and use it to treat the walkways and sidewalks in your immediate area to help ensure safety during the storm.

By taking these small precautions, you can help safeguard your home and protect our community systems during the cold months.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the HOA office.

Stay warm and safe,
